Operating Systems, Tools and
Add-ons for StrongARM
Overview
Identified below are operating system, tool, and add-on vendors currently
working with StrongARM processors. It is intended for hardware and software
developers and designers planning to use either the SA-1100 microprocessor or
EBSA-285 evaluation board for their products.
SA-1100 Microprocessor
The SA-1100 microprocessor is a device that may be useful for the following:
- Portable applications high-end computing performance at
low-power performance.
- Embedded applications with high performance computing with
significant MIPS-per-dollar and MIPS-per-watt advantages.
The SA-1100 for portable applications incorporates a 32-bit
StrongARM RISC processor with instruction and data cache, memory-management unit (MMU),
and read/write buffers running at 133/190 MHz.
The SA-1100 for embedded applications incorporates a 32-bit
StrongARM RISC processor running at 160/220 MHz with a large instruction and data cache,
MMU, and read/write buffers running at 160/220 MHz.
Additionally, the SA-1100 provides system support logic,
multiple serial communication channels, a color/gray scale LCD controller, PCMCIA support
for up to two sockets, and general-purpose I/O ports.
EBSA-285 Evaluation Board
The EBSA-285 evaluation board provides a flexible
hardware environment to help manufacturers incorporate the SA-110 microprocessor and 21285
core logic chip into their products quickly. This hardware expedites the development of
applications that require an SDRAM memory subsystem, PCI I/O, and high integration in a
low-cost design.
